Novi’s biggest summer gatherings get the most attention, but they do not explain how the city actually spends the season. The more useful pattern appears during an ordinary week.
Tuesday brings music to the Novi Public Library patio at lunchtime and Fountain Walk in the evening. Wednesday shifts to hands-on art at Fuerst Park. Thursday brings another concert series to Paradise Park. The Walled Lake waterfront, MSU Tollgate Farm, and several smaller recreation sites fill the gaps.
That is the real answer for residents searching for things to do in Novi this summer. Novi does not depend on one central event district. Its summer calendar moves among several hubs, each with a different pace and level of planning.
Novi’s repeatable summer week

- Wednesday: Sizzling Summer art at Fuerst Park
- Thursday: Summer Songfest at Paradise Park

The real weekly calendar starts on Tuesday
Tuesday offers two different versions of the same idea: a scheduled activity that does not take over the whole day.
Novi Public Library’s Tuesday Tunes on the Patio runs from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Residents can bring lunch or buy food from the library café. Outdoor games are available, and the concert moves into a meeting room if the weather turns.

Registration is required. That detail matters because several of Novi’s free summer programs still have capacity limits.
Tuesday evening moves north to Twelve Mile Crossing at Fountain Walk. Street Sounds runs from 6 to 8 p.m. near The HUB Stadium Novi. The remaining 2026 schedule includes:

- July 28: Ben Sharkey
- August 4: Fifty Amp Fuse
- August 11: Elektrik Dream
- August 18: Killer Flamingos
Bring a chair for the outdoor setup. Twelve Mile Crossing operates as a social district, so participating businesses can sell approved drinks to go within the district. If weather forces a change, the concert moves to the second-floor HUB CLUB. Outside food and drinks are not allowed inside that backup location.
The practical advantage is consistency. A Tuesday night can be planned several weeks ahead without committing to a ticketed weekend festival.
Wednesday rewards a little advance planning
Sizzling Summer gives Wednesday mornings a different role. The free art workshops run at Fuerst Park from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and are presented with the Detroit Institute of Arts and Villa Barr Art Park resident artists.
Remaining dates listed on the city calendar are July 22 and August 5, 12, and 19. Registrants receive an email before the event to select a 10 a.m., 11 a.m., or noon session.
Free should not be confused with unlimited walk-in availability. Novi Parks reported 625 registrations by May 21, before the series received wider promotion through social media and email newsletters. Register early if a particular Wednesday works for your schedule.
Fuerst Park can still support a shorter outing when a workshop is full. The park sits at Ten Mile and Taft and includes walking paths, an amphitheater, summer-break restroom access, and Wi-Fi for valid Novi Public Library cardholders.
Thursday keeps the pattern going on Grand River
Summer Songfest runs Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. under a covered pavilion at Paradise Park, 45799 Grand River Avenue.

Guests can arrive at 6 p.m. Food service, a cash bar, games, and attractions are available for purchase. The concerts are free, but registration is required. No August 13 performance appears on the published schedule, so check the event list rather than assuming the series runs every Thursday.
The library’s role extends beyond the concerts. Its 2026 Summer Reading program continues through August 8, and outdoor Read Boxes are located at Sakura Novi, Jessica’s Splashpad, Pavilion Shore, ITC Community Sports Park, Brookfarm Park, and Rotary Park. Those boxes help connect the weekly programming to places residents may already be visiting.
The unscheduled layer makes the routine flexible
A useful summer calendar needs options that do not start at a fixed time. Novi has several that can be paired with the Tuesday-through-Thursday schedule.
Pair Pavilion Shore with Lakeshore Park
Pavilion Shore Park and Lakeshore Park are about 0.2 miles apart, but they serve different outings.
Pavilion Shore offers waterfront seating, paths, a fishing pier, a playground, and seasonal restrooms. Lakeshore adds a swimming beach, playgrounds, picnic shelters, walking routes, and mountain-bike trails.
The Lakeshore beach is scheduled to operate from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily through Labor Day, weather permitting. There is no nonresident entry fee. Dogs can use the rest of the park on six-foot leashes, but they are not allowed on the beach.
A simple plan is to begin at Pavilion Shore for a short waterfront stop. Continue to Lakeshore only if the group wants the beach or a longer trail outing.
Treat Jessica’s Splashpad as weather-dependent
Jessica’s Splashpad at Bosco Fields operates from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day, weather permitting. Entry is free, and there are no lifeguards.
Children under 12 must remain with a supervising adult. Food, alcohol, glass containers, outside toys, water guns, and recreational equipment are prohibited inside the enclosure.
The city has published conflicting closing times for the splashpad. Skip the guesswork and call the operating-status hotline at 248-567-0373 before leaving home.
Keep an active backup available
Wildlife Woods Park has eight pickleball courts, shaded outdoor exercise equipment, fields, wooded areas, a shelter, and access to the ITC Corridor Trail. It is open from dawn to dusk at 26600 Wixom Road.
The Novi Water Tower Park R/C Raceway offers a more specialized option at 25460 Novi Road. The track is open from dawn to dusk through November 1 for battery-powered models that are 1/8 scale or smaller. Open practice is free, though race-day entry fees may apply. There is no electricity at the site, so arrive with charged batteries or your own power solution.
Tollgate adds the quieter seasonal moments
MSU Tollgate Farm does not follow the same weekly concert pattern. Its strength is a smaller set of programs tied to what is happening outdoors at that point in the season.
The current Tollgate calendar includes:
- July 16, 6 to 8 p.m.: Garden Open House
- July 17, 8 to 9:30 p.m.: Firefly Stroll
- July 23, 1 to 2:30 p.m.: In-hive beekeeping workshop
- August 21, 8 to 9:30 p.m.: “Batty About Bats?” night hike
Tollgate is at 28115 Meadowbrook Road. Its volunteer-maintained gardens are generally open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to dusk. Check visitor and program information before making a special trip because camps and scheduled activities may affect how the property is being used.
These events supply a useful change of pace. Rather than another stage and band, the activity is tied to gardens, fireflies, bees, or bats.
Sakura gives the Grand River stop a current food angle
The opening of Sakura Novi adds a newer option to the Grand River portion of this circuit. The mixed-use development was planned as an international, market-style destination connected to Novi’s longstanding ties with Japanese businesses.
Local coverage highlighted Chubby Cattle Wagyu Shabu House as a sit-down restaurant at the development in April 2026. The Dancing Pine opened there this summer at 42768 Grand River Avenue. The Korean steakhouse focuses on wagyu, wine, caviar, and tableside cooking, which places it closer to a planned dinner or celebration than a quick low-cost stop.
Sakura works best in this article as part of the same geographic pattern as Paradise Park. It gives residents another reason to think of Grand River as an evening route rather than a single destination.
The big events are peaks, not the whole season
Two larger gatherings still deserve space on the calendar.
Pour on the Shore is scheduled for Friday, July 24 at Pavilion Shore Park. Novi Taco Fest follows August 28 through 30 at Twelve Mile Crossing, with nearly 40 taco trucks plus an artisan market, live music, wrestling, games, dance performances, and a pepper-eating contest.
Those dates may draw the larger crowds, but the weeks around them are already full. The deeper pattern is a series of smaller commitments that can be repeated without giving up an entire weekend.
Check these details before leaving home
A quick review can prevent most summer-plan problems:
- Register early. Tuesday Tunes, Sizzling Summer, and Summer Songfest require registration.
- Check weather updates. Street Sounds has an indoor backup, while the library can move Tuesday Tunes inside.
- Call the splashpad hotline. Published hours conflict, and weather can change operating status.
- Verify Villa Barr’s reopening. A concrete-path project began in June with an expected closure of 30 to 45 days. The city had not confirmed completion in the available update.
- Allow extra driving time. Novi Road between 12 Mile and 13 Mile is scheduled to be reduced to one outer lane in each direction beginning the week of July 20. The Novi portion of the larger 12 Mile Road project is scheduled to start August 3, with one lane maintained in each direction and access to businesses remaining open.
